Kicking Around Ideas For Noting Quotes

Keeping quotes handy isn't actually a bad idea. Think I will start a word doc for to keep all the quotes that I come across that I definitly want to use somewhere someday b/c they are ridiculously cute, funny or whatever.

If you came straight to the Salty Sandbox and are curious why the hell this whole idea even came up then read my post on Salty Selections - Quirky Quotes ~ Fun Offbeat Categories To Browse Freely.

Back when I was away at school I did actually I have a document where I kept quotes to use in cards for occasions and holidays along complete with upcoming or just past dates so I didn't forget them again the next year. Put all the wittiscms, motivational/inspirational quotes and other words of wisdom in MiSC. section or by the date/holiday they belonged with or int newly created sub-catgories and so on.

Yeah the damn document was a complete mess! It got so long and cluttered that it was easier to just search for appropiate quotes online and hope I remembered to mark the dates I so carefully collected down on a calendar somewhere - preferably the one I'd be using next year but any would do at the moment as someday I'd consolidate my post-its, makeshift organizers and assorted planner pages onto one simple calendar ... sure I would. That project was like the quotes and important dates document but a hell of lot worse and it's a story for never actually because that was pretty much it. :)

So back to how I plan on keeping quotes/zingers handy ... This time I can either go all out and create a word doc complete with a table of contents and jump links which would be complete waste of my time and rather silly or just keep it simple. Going with simple. So my new "Quotes of Note" document will be limited to fantastically funny, clever, sarcastic and ridiculously right-on quotes.

Being optimistic doesn't preculde being realistic (I hope) so just knocking out occassions and holidays will not be enough to avoid bogging down my quotes list so also exluding exluding the inspirational or wise life lessons that I feel like I ought to read but don't actually want to.

If I ever put that doc together then I'll post it but already backing away from the idea. Not because it's bad but mostly because I'm a bit lazy when it comes to time-wasters. Started thinking I could just create a page on this blog or my poetry blog for "Quotes of Note" which will totally end up unorganized like my first document. Suppose I could create categories ... but then why not just create a whole blog for them then? And let's not forget we're talking about quotes I don't even have yet.

Funny how even the things I deliberately try to simplify get so out of hand and complicated before I even star on them. So I've got no idea what I'm going to do now except that I'm done thinking about it until I come across a quote I love (fully aware that I'll probably just Tweet it anyway and I'd bet that I've done that before).  'Til the time I find notable quotes and post them somewhere for your amusment you should check out the offbeat and quirky quotes on CoolNSmart.

Betrayal Does NOT Require Knowledge - Betraying Does Not Even Require Intent

Simply put "I didn't know" and/or "I didn't mean to" are lame-ass excuses when you betray someone. Fact is whatever happened happened and if it was betrayal then it is what it is. And that's what you've got to deal with it.

Being petty with semantics isn't going to get you out of the dog-house It could, and I think it should, get your whole damn dog-house thrown out of the yard.

Failure to think does not = lack of betrayal. At most it may mitigate the damage and hurt caused.  Still stuck on the fact that an act, a statement, a whatever counts as a betrayal despite the fact that you certainly, without any doubt ever intended to betray the person? Suck it up because it damn well does count.

No need to take my word on it, plenty of dictionaries and references to back up my title for this post. I've embedded a few defintions for those honestly wondering what the hell betray, betrayal, and betrayed even mean now that I've made such a big deal about it. And I've linked to more for those determined to quibble about terminology because obviously I did cherry pick the included defintions to illustrate my intended point - knowledge is not a necessity nor is intent.

On the flipside ~ just because someone feels betrayed does not necessarily mean that you betrayed them. But you need to deal with the actual hurt and not argue over the word if you want to pursue a healthy relationship with that person. If the word itself is something you think needs to be more clearly defined between yourselves, that probably good BUT not until the timing is right meaning the issue of betrayal is not currently at issue or still smarting and things are in a relatively calm good place.

To Betray and Betrayal Briefly Defined

Betrayal
  • Form of deception or dismissal of prior presumptions, is the breaking or violation of a presumptive social contract (trust, or confidence) that produces moral and psychological conflict within a relationship.
Betray
  • To break (a promise) or be disloyal to (a person's trust)
  • Disappoint the hopes or expectations of; be disloyal to: to betray one's friends
  • To be unfaithful in guarding, maintaining, or fulfilling: to betray a trust.
  • Disclose or discover, as something which prudence would conceal; to reveal unintentionally ~ note this is very different than the following defintion
  • to reveal unconsciously (something one would preferably conceal): Her nervousness betrays her insecurity.

Screw it, I'm getting sick thinking about it, so I'm done with linking to definitons. Feel free to outsource me,  it's my sandbox and I don't give a shit. You've got my theory & advice, defintions and I'll leave you with some more links with precisely pithy titles for your convenience.

Funny Infographics - Comic Originals & Parodies Well Done with a Side of Satire

These are all part of the geeky fun on MakeUseOf.com - an excellent site with really useful resources, How-Tos, Cheat Sheets and other tools freely available. I'm bouncing around the small section (only in comparison to the other parts of MakeUseOf) devoted to fun for geeks. From the obnoxiousness of Happy Bunny to smoother and sometimes subtle dorky humor, well that's just me and don't be surprised when I land somewhere in left field looking for a laugh later.

Stupid politics got me all fired up and I was tapping away on a blog and lost all track of time. So in the midst of too many projects at once and  hoping the laptop doesn't crap out on me before I save that HTML code I just so painstakingly put in before I click save, I ended up back here in the sandbox looking for funny stuff to share with who exactly? Just going to go with it, seems this sandbox is becoming my new Zen Garden which could get pretty interesting.

So with no further further ado, here are the funnies I found worth sharing . . .

The Hierarchy of Internet Needs mirrors Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs just closely enough to be a tad scary but it's all in good fun. I concur with all but the need for pictures and videos of cats. Actually I'll concede the cat point, particularly when a Roomba is involved - it's so ridiculous that "Roomba Cat" is one the top search term suggestions by Google when you start typing Roomba into its search box. But I really  don't get it. Chinchilla's, penguins and so many other animal are so much cuter and amusing.

The Addiction Chart covers Porn, Coffee, Cigarettes, Alcohol, the Internet, Fast Food, Gambling and Apple Products. Humorously laying out when/how each addiction got started, when it became a problem, the time it was at its worst, its support group and finally when you know it's been kicked. Originally appeared on the Just for Enjoyment Blog

And saved the best for last or more aptly stopping for the moment on a really good one. It got more than a smirk, a definite smile and some laughter on the inside. It may have been unfairly denied an actual out loud laugh b/c my dad is awake and his office chair keeps squeaking and I don't like him being up during 'my time' b/c it means I'll end up staying up way too late to reclaim 'my time', you know that totally irrational need for alone time which in fact I now have as he's not bothering me and probably isn't even aware I'm up (even though my chair is squeaky too). And we're not even on the same floor in the house, so definitely quite silly and this little graphic deserved at the least a good snicker.

So hopefully someone actually reads this someday and enjoys the If Websites Were Pets Poster as much as I should have. :)

Happy Bunny - Obnoxious, Snarky Fun To Offset Rants and Rambles

I tagged a bunch of other Happy Bunny images that make me laugh, smile or just shake my head on my a Little Salty StumbleUpon profile.  So if you're a Happy Bunny fan just go to my profile and click on the happy-bunny tag to check them out. If they tickle your fancy then bookmark that page b/c I'll be adding more to my StumbleUpon favorites pretty regularly. I don't want to over clutter my sandbox straightaway and it's much simpler to tag and move along.

Suppose I could create a stand-alone page dedicated to Happy Bunny here but that requires effort and that's suck the fun right out of new method of dealing with technical frustrations. Especially don't want to b/c trying to make Blogger do what I want is the current source of many of technical difficulties.

Usually Microsoft is at fault somehow but for the past few months Dell has been the object of my seething scorn. Needed a new stress buster for when the Win7 laptop makes me crazy. It doesn't like to start, starting can take many tries and a ridiculously long time. Luckily I have a trusty Mini-Mac to tap away on while I wait and fuss over this idiotic Dell laptop.

So I run a Happy Bunny image search on Google & scroll about 'til I'm calm. Yup, that's my version of raking a Zen Garden. If you don't like it then get the hell out of my sandbox. :)

After all that, I just decided to make a stand alone page for Happy Bunny anyway. But a different kind. Linking to the images of my favorite Happy Bunny  products on Amazon. Full Disclosure: I'm an Amazon.com Affiliate so if you click on any of the links I will make a few pennies. And I will greatly appreciate them. Not really counting on any but the nifty thing about the Amazon widget for Blogger is I can put the images there for your viewing pleasure (and mine for when I'm too annoyed to bother running the search).

If you're into snarky stuff you should check out my Listmania! Obnoxiously Funny Shirts and Hats List. That was just a simple link, I'm sure I could connect it to my affiliate account but that'd be a hassle for to pittance I might make should some of you choose to purchase rather than just amuse yourselves browsing it.

Hassle is a very relative word b/c Amazon is great affiliate in terms making things incredibly easy to integrate and offering a wide variety of content, widgets, and code but that luxury comes at the cost of making a good commission per conversion but pennies add up and I like getting to pick particular images. So it is what it what is and that's all for now.

I picked 8 of my favorite Happy Bunny items and put them here for your amusement. If you like one of these or plan to check out other stuff on Amazon, please do click one of my my links because I could really use those pennies. Thanks! Click on the Keep Reading Link below if you want to take a look or read the several more paragraphs of random musings I just added to the post.

There's literally thousands of Happy Bunny things on Amazon, I already sifted through those results to pick out some more of my favorites to make my Snarky Slideshow Starring Happy Bunny which has about 40 items in it. You might want to check that out too for laughs or a shopping preview. I also stuck a handy little search box below my top 8 for your convenience.

Can you tell yet how much I want those pennies? That's true but I'm pushing it hard on this post b/c it's a plausible rationalization for the ridiculous amount of time I spent on the stupid slideshow and especially b/c I had to redo it for the Blogger page as it didn't fit in the template and I didn't know that Amazon wouldn't let me resize it. I tweaked my search terms a tad and discovered the overwhelming amount of Happy Bunny products on Amazon and ended up spending quite a bit more time creating a brand new slideshow rather than simply re-entering my original selections.

Also threw in another Amazon's widget sheerly out of curiosity. It's going to generate a product cloud based on my text and this post happens to be the perfect testing ground for it. I used the phrase "Happy Bunny" so many times it ought to be top tag in the cloud but haven't (I hope) been overly repetitive with words other than slideshow, snarky, pennies and Amazon. I'm curious to see what the cloud churns out. I pretty much only use it on my poem posts when I don't have anything in particular I associate with it.

Know it's hard to believe given all of my penny begging today but I mostly use the Amazon product ads to add flavor to a post or for some books and things I really believe in. The only exceptions being the couple of Amazon guessing clouds and some posts on Salty Selections (my useful blog)where there were really good products or books on point and probably every post I'll be making in the near future unless I suck it up and build the Salty Shopping site that should have been completed last year sometime.

I definitely sucked the fun out of my stress buster so going to hunt for a new one. Somehow spending time on finding something to make me feel better about having wasted time actually seems to make sense. Anyway, enjoy and indulge yourself in the snarky adorable obnoxiousness of Happy Bunny.
